My work is mostly wheel-thrown with some press-moulded textural combinations.
I reference elements of ancient artefacts, period garden ornamentation and architecture in my work. I produce a wide variety of functional, individual, one-off pieces including: elevated stemmed vessels, birdbaths, sconces, lidded bowls, vases, and candle bowls.
I prefer to use grogged stoneware clay due to its durability and versatile nature to produce rough, volcanic finishes. The surfaces are distressed in order to maximise the contrasts in the colourful vivid glazes I use. I have recently been making a range of new work for "Know and Love" a few doors away, in Stoke Newington, London N16. I have been using various colour combinations of glaze crystals that I grind, add and mix together. No two are the same.
